With thanks to the gorgeous models:Jenny Radford, Brittany Chantler, Tilly Atkins, Ashli Herz, and Isobel Stone.
A big thank you to the Academy of Design photographers and make-up artists who assisted on the day of the fashion show:
Photographers: Jessica Mclord and Julie Watson (whose photographs appear on the Shi Shi L'amour website and Facebook page). Make-up Artists: Suma Colless, Amy Thomas, Jessica Zovak, Rachel-Anne Rutter, and Holly Hughes. Shi Shi L'amour presented the current collection of beautiful hats, headpieces, show clips, fans and clutches at the Gold Coast Turf Club's Young Members day on Saturday.
The show was a resounding success with the models showcasing the Shi Shi L'amour collection with style and panache. It was the perfect summer's day and The Dome was a brilliant location in which to hold the show. Despite the pouring rain many of you turned out to watch the Spotlight millinery demonstration - I can see a lot of head turning hat ware making appearances at this years Spring Racing Carnival and summer cocktail parites! Instructions for the various headpieces are below.
The pieces which I demonstrated, below, are available to by on my Etsy store, or similar pieces on my Made It store. Check them out!
www.etsy.com/shop/WaldorfExacting On Saturday Mr and I went to Brisbane's Eagle Farm races for ladies day. The main event as usual was the Fashion on the Field. The rain kept a lot of people away but the fashionista's were there in force. The outfits and headware were incredibly diverse and there were some stunning looks with people really starting to acknowlege the importance of wearing the correct headware for their look. I was really impressed overall and even thought the judges decisions weren't too far off par.
Yesterday I spent an hour at Spotlight in Ashmore showing the lovely ladies ways to make beautiful hats and fascinators for the Spring Racing Carnival season. Using Spotlights hat and fascinator bases and trimmings I created:
- an everyday gorgeous black trilby with hot pink feathers - an elegant purple fascinator with black trimmings, veiling and beads - a flirty fun cream alice band with yellow, orange and pink feathers and flowers Videos showing the demonstrations will be up here later this week. Every month I'll be updating the Millinery Mutterings blog with information about hat making, the history of hats, and various hat events and competitions around the world.
